Antimicrobial Stewardship Guidance

Supporting Information for Antimicrobial Stewardship Team and Committee Decisions

Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) teams and committees are involved in reviewing and/or approving requests by individual prescribers or hospital departments to use antimicrobials in specific settings. This may include indications that are not covered by Therapeutic Guidelines: Antibiotic and other standard resources. Often a literature review and synthesis is required to assess these requests. A repository webpage on the NSW TAG website has been created to house literature reviews conducted by NSW hospital AMS teams or committees and the decisions made in relation to these requests. The purpose of the repository is to support AMS teams or committees in their decisions by sharing reviews, analyses and decisions about use of antimicrobials in specific settings made in other NSW hospitals. AMS teams or committees are not obliged to follow the decisions made by their peers in other NSW hospitals.

Disclaimer: The documents in this repository are provided for information-sharing purposes only. These reviews are not the work of NSW TAG or the Clinical Excellence Commission. Nor is endorsement of antimicrobial use in specific settings an endorsement by NSW TAG or the Clinical Excellence Commission. To find out more about these requests, we ask that you please contact the AMS team in the relevant hospitals directly.
